Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for the remote control that Ted found for the bedroom TV. The TV has been sans remote since it was moved into our room. It is on a high chest and the buttons are on the top and pushing the correct button was always a crap shoot, but not anymore.

I am thankful that Maizie’s front tooth finally came out. That tooth has been loose for months and dangling for weeks. It has taken every ounce of restraint I have not to pull it out myself. (I have issues with things like that) I even considered paying Stella to pull it out. Last night about 9:30pm the torture was over, it came out and the Tooth Fairy was more than happy to haul away that tooth.

I am thankful for the Tooth Fairy pillow. If it wasn’t for the pillow, I don’t think she’d be able to come since Maizie wakes up over every little breath. The pillow was made by my grandmother when I was a kid and it went under my (and my sister’s) pillow. Since I knew that wouldn’t work for Light Sleep Maizie, I sewed a ribbon onto it and now it hangs on the bed.

I am thankful for the lice letter that was sent home this week. You know the one that tells you one of the kids in the class has lice. Visions of fumigating everything we own flash through my mind and I immediately start to itch. I’m especially glad that Maizie gave it to me the next day on her way to school, 1 block away actually. As she was getting out of the car I was rummaging through her hair with her swatting my hands yelling, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?”

(I chose to crumple up that letter into a teeny tiny ball and get it out of the house, just in case it was infested)

I am thankful that Stella has been working out her feet, knees and tongue; they’re getting quite strong. She can stomp her feet and kick a wall or chair like a champ, she can bend her knees and moon like a frat boy and I don’t think there’s another 4 year old that can match her sassy back talk or witty remarks. Really, who wouldn’t want such a lovely little girl like this as their own?

  1. I love the tooth fairy pillow! What a great idea. The tooth fairy has started visiting my house and I have to hold my breath when I sneak my hand under my son's pillow. Thankfully he sleeps like a rock :)

  5. That is awesome that you still have that pillow! I remember a time when my brother YANKED out my dangling tooth...now I'm questioning if my mother paid him to do it :)

  6. OH, how we need the tooth pillow. THEN the tooth fairy might actually remember to come and leave a dollar. On more than one occasion I have had a child come downstairs, give me the look, and say, "It has been two weeks. Why hasn't the tooth fairy come?" On second thought, perhaps something bigger with flashing lights would be better.
Nice job restraining yourelf and not pulling it. Those hanging teeth are so grossly tempting.

  9. I had a tooth fairy pillow, too! I wish I had kept it. How awesome that your kids can use the same one you used as a kid! Losing a remote is SO frustrating. Glad you found it!

  10. that tooth fairy pillow is such a good idea! i have no idea how my parent's were able to work the whole tooth under the pillow swap thing… although it might have something to do with the fact that i could sleep through the apocalypse. also, i totally hear you about the remote. we've never had a remote for our tv since we got it (it was given to us) and it's so annoying to have to get up in the middle of a movie or show to either turn the volume up or down or switch from the dvd player to apple tv. one day, we will get a universal remote.
