On any given
school day, this is pretty much how I sound.
Time to get
up.
What do you
want for breakfast?
Do you want
____? (Reply: Well, ...)
Yes or no?
(More
suggestions follow)
Go get
dressed.
(10 minutes
later) Are you guys dressed?
(I go
upstairs and see various stages of undress) Didn’t I ask you to get dressed?
Where did your
clothes go?
You’ve got 5
minutes and then I come upstairs with the squirt bottle.
(Stella
comes down completely dressed including accessories)
Where are
your socks?
Brush your
hair.
I don’t know
where the brush is, it should be in the drawer in the bathroom.
Why are
there still dishes on the table?
Brush your
teeth.
Where are
your socks?
You don’t
brush your teeth in the living room.
Can you
please go get the lunch bags?
Do you want
a cheese stick?
It’s a yes
or no question.
Did everyone
brush their teeth?
Why not?
Where are
your socks?
Put your
socks on and get your shoes on!
Have you
looked in the mirror?
Take a look
and tell me if you need to do something.
Oh for the
love of all that’s holy (and most likely some profanity) WHERE ARE YOUR SOCKS??
In the car,
I’m leaving!
Anyone else
out there have “trying” mornings?
Umm YES! My son acts like a teenager every morning. 5 more minutes mom. Then, I am too tired to go to school. or you need to carry me……you are 6! Its going to be brutal when he is a teen- I can tell!
ReplyDeleteOh, we have them, except ours usually entails a child saying, "oh I need lunch money/paper signed/canned food/pencil pouch. Teens are easier, as they dress themselves and are worried about being late, but they still suffer from forgetfulness.
ReplyDeleteHave you been hiding out in my house? Because that is us. Every. Single. Morning. No matter how much I prep or plan the night before. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI love it! You are so not alone, my friend. My son is great, but my daughter, that's another story. She gets dressed on time, but there are days when she forgets to pack her backpack, brush her teeth, put on socks, brush her hair, etc. I have to re-check that she has packed her lunch bag, water bottle, and an extra pair of shoes, etc. And she will get totally involved in something, leave it, and go to something else without cleaning up her mess. We call her the eraser. I totally sound like my mom every time I have to remind her to do this, do that." :)
ReplyDeleteYES! My Monday was like this, plus a dead car battery and a potty training puppy-mistake! I am always wishing for more time and patience!
ReplyDeleteUgh, you are not alone !! Juggling a baby all the while trying to get ready myself has been the craziest challenge. I'm generally leaving the house without socks of my own and peanut butter smeared on my blouse :)
ReplyDeleteWhile I have two small kids, I still find myself repeating the same phrases over and over again. I often lose track of the days because sometimes they all seem the same! I can imagine it's all going to get more "trying" from here. :)
